The Futureworld Eco-Technology Centre in Wollongong offers a unique and exciting range of interactive displays about the latest environmentally friendly technologies. Futureworld's aim is to create community awareness of the need for eco- technologies uptake in order to protect the Earth's natural resources (such as energy, clean air and water, soils, plants and wildlife) for the future.
Exhibits include "world firsts" such as South Coast inventions, the Solar Sailor which is the prototype for the solar ferry that currently runs on Sydney Harbour and a a 14 metre Wave Tank demonstrating wave to energy power; a solar car that raced from Darwin to Adelaide; a Mini Eco-house full of consumer choices; rainwater harvesting; and lots of displays about wind power, sustainable transport, water and waste management.
